This week, a sudden return home..
On your journey you come across a Black Hole. Before you know what's happening, your spacecraft is sucked in. Describe what happens in the hole.. what is it like? What do you hear, see, smell? Be as creative as you like.. Once you get through the Black Hole, you find yourselves back in earth's orbit. What happens next? Do you land on earth to find everything's somehow different? Do you land and are welcomed back as returning heroes? You decide.. anything goes.
Or: if you've only written recounts, write an explanation or use another writing genre that you haven't used in a while.
The only thing to remember: QUALITY, QUALITY, QUALITY.. no daft mistakes, no ridiculous grammatical errors either! Some of you are letting these creep into your work again - there were A LOT last week! :-(

This week, you encounter aliens...
You leave Saturn and plot a course for Neptune. You go to sleep. When you awake you find an alien staring down at you..
Write out the conversation you have. Is the alien friendly? How do you understand him/her/it? Does initial hostility/fear turn to friendship? Do you offer the alien food/drink or a parting gift? Does the alien decide to accompany you on the rest of the journey? Remember to use a new line when a new speaker speaks.. (If you like, once you've finished writing, draw a picture of the alien you imagined.) Or:

This week, having left Jupiter, you find yourself flying through the rings of Saturn on your way to either Uranus or Neptune...
See if you can describe the rings in detail. How long does it take to get there? What do they look like? What are they made of? What does it feel like as your ship passes through them? This can either be fact based, or you can make it up. Does your spaceship suffer any damage? Do the rings interfere with the electronic components on board? Does the journey get so rough you start to feel sick? What happens at the end of your fly by?

Writing: Blast off!
The adventure begins. You blast off into
space. You are on a mission to visit all of the planets in our solar system.
Each week you will visit either a planet or a moon. You can base your story on
fact or fiction, or both!
This week: simply describe the lift off. How
did you spend the time before launch? Did you have breakfast? Did you have to
say any goodbyes? How did you feel before and during take-off? Can you
describe the appearance of earth as you rose further and further away from
it?
OR
Write about anything that takes your fancy.
It could be a short story, an explanation, a recount about something you have
done.
For both of the above: Proofread and edit
your work BEFORE you hand it in. There should be NO spelling mistakes. If
unsure, ask a parent or use a dictionary. Don’t be lazy.
